Peking Gourmet Inn **
Falls Church , $

If you want to dine where Republican stalwarts do, head to this Peking-duck house in Falls Church. Lawrence Eagleburger and Howard Baker were eating there together recently. Out came the camera, another portrait to add to those of George Bush, Colin Powell, and hundreds of others already on the walls.

What keeps themand the less famouscoming to this handsome restaurant is the duck, a lean bird perfectly carved, crispy skin and all. Roll it up with a lick of hoisin sauce and spring onions in a steaming flour pancake, and you have an irresistible Chinese fajita. The restaurant is also known for its garlic sprouts, grown organically on a nearby farm and especially good stir-fried with chicken or shrimp. Chinese leeks can fill in if sprouts are out of season. This is not adventurous food, but it's well prepared, and the freshness of the fixings takes most dishes a cut above the ordinary.
