The no-nonsense interior of this rib house matches the light-industrial neighborhood that surrounds it. The high-ceilinged warehouse space gives every indication of being authentic, and the food at Texas Ribs is, too.

To place and receive their orders, diners line up at a service counter, where they also pick up the plastic flatware and the iced tea, lemonade, and colas that provide the accompaniment to the food.

Most customers order the ribs, and they are the best choice. Both the large and meaty pork ribs and the smaller baby back ribs are infused with the smoky taste imparted by Texas-made, wood-fired smokers. Almost as good are the pulled pork, sliced pork, and barbecued chicken. To attract the health-conscious, Texas Ribs has added seafood selections to the menu, but the star of the show remains the barbecue. A good bet is the combination platter for $8.95. Included are a pair of large ribs, a quarter-chicken, and pulled pork or sliced beef or pork; excellent side dishes, such as pork-studded baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad; and bread.
