Each year there seem to be more good Vietnamese restaurants to choose from, but the popularity of the Queen Bee remains undiminished. The range of the menu and the consistently high quality of the cooking are still unmatched. Every Queen Bee regular has favorite dishes so good they're hard to pass up.

The spring rolls are superb--a moist and generous mixture of pork, crab, and vegetables wrapped in rice paper and deep-fried, served with a fish sauce. The shrimp and pork rolls, served cold, are accompanied by a sweet plum sauce. The green-papaya salad with beef jerky and spicy sausage is a wonderful mixture of textures and flavors.

Other good choices are the Hanoi-style grilled pork served with green leaf, vermicelli, and garlic fish sauce; the Saigon pancake, with pork, crabmeat, shrimp, and vegetables; the seafood on crispy noodles; and the whole fried fish served with spicy sauce or hot sauce (ask the waiter to bring both); and the chicken in ginger sauce.

Queen Bee serves Amber beer from France in large bottles, as well as other domestic and imported beers and wine by the glass, carafe, or bottle. On weekends, be prepared to wait for a table if you arrive much past 7 pm.
