Supplementing the long menu is a blackboard list of daily specials. The daily special of steamed sole was excellent on a recent visit and a steal at $9.95. Good choices from the menu include sautéed oysters with ginger and scallions; New Zealand mussels in black-bean sauce; crisp grilled pork chops with five-spice salt; pan-fried, deboned duckling in lemon sauce; and catfish in a hot pot with tofu, bean shoots, and garlic. The steamed fish is another good choice. A pair of unusual dishes are monk's cap, a vegetarian preparation featuring mushroom caps, seaweed, and snow flowers, and Ying Yang Treasure Boxes, two baseball-sized bell peppers stuffed with a spicy mixture of chicken, scallions, pine nuts, and mushrooms.
