Café Parisien Express
Arlington , Alexandria

Le fast food, despite the best efforts of French linguistic and culinary authorities, has become firmly established in French life. This pleasant Arlington restaurant, with a recently opened branch in Old Town Alexandria, serves a simple menu of soups, salads, sandwiches, crepes, and quiches alongside a longer-cooked daily special. These specials, served up in generous portions and priced from $6.50 to $10.25, are a great bargain. Tuesday's special is boeuf bourguignon; Wednesday's, pork roast; Friday's, couscous, a heaping pile of grain topped with lamb, chicken, and vegetables; and Saturday's, pot-au-feu. Orders are placed at the counter and claimed when ready. Beer and wine are available. Desserts include crepes, crème caramel, and chocolate mousse. Be sure to allow yourself time to eat dessert before closing time, or you might be ejected before it's finished.
